Karen Redding is a member of the board for the Houston History Alliance and the Founder and President of “Redding Group – Personalized Financial Services”. Karen supports the HHA belief that the connection between historian and community must not be a one-way relationship; every person is in their own way a curator, genealogist, and historian and collectively our community is a vast repository of the city’s history. Although Karen is not a historian, curator or genealogist by trade, she has a desire to help Houston document and promote its history and actively engage in the storytelling of Houston’s dynamic history. Karen graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Chemical Engineering with a specialty in BioMedical Engineering. After graduating from UT, she pursued a career with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) for 10 years before deciding to re-focus her professional life on providing daily money management services to non-profits, small businesses, and households. This career passion for the last 10 years has honed her bookkeeping skills enabling her to maintain HHA’s financial record keeping in QuickBooks and function as the Left Brain of the organization when calculations and spreadsheets are necessary. Karen has two active boys and a husband who keep her busy and always entertained. In her spare time, Karen enjoys reading, gardening, skiing on the water and the snow and traveling when the budget allows!
