Ovetta Culp Hobby: How a Small-Town Texas Girl Became a National Treasure

Debra L. Winegarten is an award-winning author and publisher and a third-generation Texan. The author of “Oveta Culp Hobby: Colonel, Cabinet Member, Philanthropist”, she writes biographies of famous and infamous Texans and Jewish-themed poetry. When not writing, she works part-time at UT-Austin in the Astronomy Department and teaches Sociology at South University. She has spent the past year sharing the story of Oveta Culp Hobby, the protagonist of her latest book.

She’s happy to announce that her book on Oveta Culp Hobby just won a medal from the Military Writers Society of America.
